A gold exploration and production company, Argonaut operates mines and conducts exploration operations on properties located throughout Mexico. Its assets include the open-pit El Castillo gold mine in Durango, the La Colorada gold and silver mine (outside Hermosillo in northern Mexico), and a dozen exploration projects in the Sonora Mojave Megashare. The company produced 72,000 ounces of gold resources in 2011 at El Castillo, and it expects its production to increase after La Colorada commenced production operations in 2012.
