The company, an independent port operator for giant A.P. Møller - Mærsk, handles container traffic from some 60 shipping lines, including sister company Maersk Line, a major container carrier. Overall, APM Terminals facilities load and unload containers amounting to about 78 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) per year. Through APM Terminals North America, the company is a major operator of container terminals in the US. Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) holds a 25% stake in APM Terminals.
