With more than a century in business, Compañía Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV, or the South American Steamship Company) is an old sea dog that carries cargo to both coasts of South America and to ports in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. The largest container carrier in South America, CSAV transports automobiles, bulk cargo, chemicals, containerized freight, and refrigerated cargo with a fleet of approximately 90 containerships, as well as other vessels. In addition to its shipping operations, CSAV provides cargo handling and logistics services. Maritima de Inversiones S.A. owns about 45% of CSAV.
