Columbia Sussex Company Description
Columbia Sussex develops and manages more than 60 hotels and casinos in about 30 states. Its hotels operate under banners such as Hilton, Marriott, and Starwood. Its casinos are located in Mississippi (Lighthouse Point), Louisiana (Amelia Belle), and Nevada (Lake Tahoe Horizon), among other states. Wimar Tahoe, the casino affiliate of Columbia Sussex that did business as Columbia Entertainment, turned heads in 2007 when it purchased Aztar Corporation, owner of the Las Vegas Tropicana, for about $2 billion. (After the deal, Wimar Tahoe took on the Tropicana identity and began operating as Tropicana Entertainment LLC.) CEO William Yung and his family own Columbia Sussex. Yung founded the company in 1972.
