Cleveland Browns Company Description

The Dawg Pound is the place to be for football fans in Cleveland. The Cleveland Browns professional football franchise was started in 1944 by Arthur McBride as part of the All-American Football Conference and joined the National Football League in 1949. The club boasts four NFL championship titles, its last in 1964. Art Modell decided to relocate the franchise in 1996, but a deal struck with the NFL allowed Cleveland to retain the team name, colors, and history. (Modell's franchise became the Baltimore Ravens.) The late Alfred Lerner and former 49ers president Carmen Policy were later awarded the new Browns franchise, which resumed play in 1999. Lerner's family, led by son Randy, continues to control the team.
