Claria Company Description
Once a king of adware and spyware, Claria has now set its sights on tracking personalized consumer behavior. In the not-so-distant past, Claria served targeted ads to more than 40 million computer users (the advertising messages were broadcast through software applications that tracked the user's online behavior and presented appropriate pop-up ads). However, after vociferous criticism from the antispyware community, Claria exited the adware business in 2006, ceasing its pop-up ads altogether in July. Claria's new products, PersonalWeb and Axon, offers the user a personalized Web page and provides them with advertising and related content based on their search habits and Web browsing behavior.
