Overview
Citizens aims to prepare its customers for two of life's certainties: living and dying. A holding company, Citizens provides ordinary life insurance in niche markets through its various operating subsidiaries. Through its CICA Life Insurance Company, it issues life insurance in US dollars to wealthy individuals in Latin America and Taiwan. On the other end of the economic and life spectrum, its Home Service segment sells life insurance to lower-income individuals in the a few Midwest and southern states, primarily to cover final expenses and burial costs. Chairman and CEO Harold E. Riley, who founded Citizens in 1969, is the controlling shareholder of the company.
