CIMPOR Company Description
CIMPOR - Cimentos de Portugal finds it easy to be hard. CIMPOR is Portugal's largest cement manufacturer and the #2 cement company on the Iberian Peninsula (after Mexico's CEMEX). It has an annual cement production capacity of around 24 million tons, with about 10 million tons of that capacity, combined, from Spain and Portugal. In addition to cement, CIMPOR produces aggregates (over 12 million tons annually), concrete, hydraulic lime, precast concrete products, and dry mortars. The company has operations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. CIMPOR was created in 1976 as a state-owned entity, but the government of Portugal sold the last of its stake in 2001.
