Cherry Corporation Company Description

The Cherry Corporation would rather switch than fight. Since the company sold its semiconductor business to ON Semiconductor for $250 million in 2000, Cherry Corporation has focused on its core product lines: automotive switches and modules, sensors, computer keyboards, and input devices. Switches made by its Cherry Automotive division are used in everything from car locks to sunroofs and cruise controls. The company's Cherry Electrical Products unit makes high- and low-current switches for appliances, industrial controls,office equipment, as well as keyboards and other input devices for computers. In 2008 ZF Friedrichshafen made a bid to acquire the company, which has been private since 2000.
