Its two primary brand names are Champ and Kleener. Champion Laboratories is owned by United Components, which in turn is owned by investment firm The Carlyle Group. The Carlyle Group bought Champion Laboratories and five other auto parts companies from UIS in 2003 and formed United Components to oversee the acquisitions.
