Cementos Portland Valderrivas has built a business on a strong foundation. The company, founded in 1903, produces some 18 million tons of cement and clinker (an intermediate product used to make portland cement) annually at 15 plants in Spain, the US, South America, Africa, and Europe. Its acquisition of 64% of Corporación Uniland cemented its position as the #1 cement producer in Spain. In the eastern US, the company makes and distributes cement, gravel, and sand through Giant Cement Holding. It also produces concrete, operates lime factories, and has transportation companies. Cementos Portland Valderrivas is 67%-owned by construction firm Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas.
