Cavaliers Company Description
This business hardly has a carefree attitude towards roundball. The Cavaliers Operating Company owns and operates the Cleveland Cavaliers professional basketball team and its home court, Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs joined the National Basketball Association in 1970 as part of an expansion that included the Portland Trail Blazers and Buffalo Braves (now the Los Angeles Clippers). Though losing records have been more the norm for the team in the past, things have been looking up for Cleveland since drafting high school sensation LeBron James in 2003. The family of original owner Gordon Gund owns part of the team but Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert holds the majority.
