Cascade Natural Gas Company Description

To some 93 small communities in Washington and Oregon, Cascade Natural Gas is the main man. The gas utility transmits and distributes natural gas to 244,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers. It also distributes gas to approximately 200 noncore customers, mostly large industrial users buying their supplies from third parties. Cascade Natural Gas owns 5,408 miles of distribution mains, 214 miles of transmission mains, and 3,681 miles of service lines. Subsidiary CGC Energy offers services to industrial natural gas customers. The utility obtains its gas mainly from Canadian suppliers. In 2007 diversified natural resources company MDU Resources acquired Cascade for $475 million.
