The company's investments include a stake in Teléfonos de Mexico (Telmex), Mexico's #1 telecom service provider, in partnership with Texas-based AT&T Inc. (formerly SBC Communications), which also holds a stake in Telmex separately. It has spun off its América Móvil unit, a leading Latin American wireless carrier that is a partner with AT&T in Telecom Americas, which develops wireless holdings in Brazil, and created América Telecom.
