Caribou Coffee Company serves hot Joe to the java herd. The company operates the second largest non-franchised coffee chain in the US (behind Starbucks), based on the number of locations, with more than 480 stores in Minnesota and more than 15 other states. The outlets, designed to resemble ski lodges and Alaskan cabins, offer a variety of coffee blends, as well as specialty coffee drinks, teas, and baked goods. The company also sells whole bean coffee and brewing supplies. More than 50 locations are operated by franchisees, about 40 of which are in international markets. Bahrain-based investment group Arcapita owns 60% of Caribou Coffee.
