Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) serves as an investment manager for the government and oversees tax-exempt funds collected by savings banks (caisses d'épargne) and the post office. The group invests its deposits in public projects including subsidized housing and semi-public companies formed with local governments for urban development.
