Overview

Brookfield Properties is no slouch in the commercial property market. The company, which operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT) in the US owns more than 100 American and Canadian commercial properties, primarily in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, Calgary, and Toronto. Its portfolio totals nearly 75 million sq. ft. and includes most of Manhattan's World Financial Center. It also has more than half dozen properties under development. Tenants include Merrill Lynch, CIBC, JPMorgan Chase, and Target Corporation. Not content with only commercial holdings Brookfield also develops residential properties in both Canada and the US.
