Specialty pharmaceutical firm Biovail concentrates on making improved versions of existing drugs using its oral drug delivery technologies, such as extended release and oral disintegration formulations. Its Biovail Pharmaceuticals unit makes and sells extended release versions of GlaxoSmithKline's Wellbutrin (Wellbutrin XL) and Sanofi-Aventis' blood pressure medication Cardizem (Cardizem LA), as well as genital herpes treatment Zovirax.
