Bioheart Company Description
Broken hearts are no fun, but damaged hearts are worse and Bioheart aims to help. The biotech company is focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of therapies treating heart damage. Because the heart does not have cells to naturally repair itself, Bioheart is exploring the use of cells derived from the patient's own thigh muscle to improve cardiac function after a heart has been damaged by a heart attack. Its lead candidate, MyoCell, uses precursor muscle cells called myoblasts to strengthen scar tissue with living muscle tissue. The company is also developing a number of proprietary techniques and processes used to obtain and inject MyoCell.
