BG Group encounters hydrocarbons in new well at Tupi North-East Brazil(13 Nov 2009 06:24:00 EST)Natural gas company BG Group confirmed on Friday encountering hydrocarbons in a new well called Tupi North-East on block BM-S-11 in the Santos Basin pre-salt, offshore Brazil. The new well is in a water depth of 2115 m in the Tupi evaluation area, approximately 265 km from Rio de Janeiro and 18 km north-east of the Tupi discovery well.

London stock market falls by midday [Xinhua News Agency](29 Oct 2009 08:38:00 EDT)The London market fell by midday on Thursday, with the FTSE 100 down 16.61 points, or 0.33 percent, at 5,063.81 points. Among the winners were Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Banking Group, and Prudential, which rose 9.61 percent, 6.15 percent and 4.43 percent separately.

London stock market down in opening [Xinhua News Agency](28 Oct 2009 04:58:00 EDT)The London stock market opened lower in early trading on Wednesday with the FTSE 100 index down 42.13 points, or 0.81 percent at 5,158.84 points. Man Group slipped 3.74 percent in early trade, and BG Group fell 2.3 percent after the energy firm reported a 44 percent drop in third-quarter net profit from last year as a result of lower oil and gas prices.
