Berwind Corporation isn't workin' in a coal mine anymore. Founded in 1886 to mine Appalachian coal, the firm began leasing its mining operations in 1962 to fund investments in new ventures. Berwind Corporation gives autonomy to the management teams of its portfolio companies while adding investment fuel to their financial fires. The company's portfolio includes Elmer's Products, maker of Elmer's Glue, Krazy Glue, and other products; specialty chemicals companies CRC and Colorcon; and promotional products firm National Pen. The Berwind family owns Berwind Corporation.
