BSAM, a subsidiary of Bear Stearns, provides equity and fixed-income investment management services, as well as hedge funds, private equity, and funds of funds. BSAM has more than $43 billion of assets under management, most of it on behalf of corporate clients, which represent more than 60% of its customers. Other customers include pension plans, endowments, foundations, labor unions, and high-net-worth individuals. Parent Bear Stearns was acquired by JPMorgan Chase in 2008 after it suffered heavily from its investments in the subprime mortgage market.
