BBVA Provida Company Description
Administradora de Fondos de Pensiones Provida (aka BBVA Provida) has a green thumb when it comes to growing pensions -- it is the largest private pension funds management company (AFP) in Latin America with approximately $35 billion in assets under management. (Chile's social security system was privatized in 1981, and workers are now required to pay into AFPs.) The company has more than 3 million customers and more than 120 offices throughout the nation; it controls nearly a third of the pension fund market in Chile. Spanish banking behemoth BBVA owns a majority of BBVA Provida.
