Overview
BASF SE, the world's largest chemical company, maintains operations in the UK and Ireland through subsidiary BASF plc. The company markets plastics, agricultural chemicals, pigments and dispersions, fibers, and pharmaceutical intermediates; the largest segment is plastics and fibers. Its manufacturing operations in the UK and Ireland include construction chemicals, polyurethane systems, and coatings. In 2009 it added several manufacturing sites formerly owned by Ciba, which BASF acquired that year.
