Also known as Barclaycard US, the company issues Visa and MasterCard credit cards, and issues co-branded credit cards through partnerships with more than 60 companies and institutions, including Gulf, US Airways, Carnival Cruise Lines, L.L. Bean, and Harvard University. The company was founded in 2000; UK-based Barclays PLC cemented its place in the US credit card market when it acquired Juniper Financial from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in 2004.
