Baosteel Group Corporation is China's largest steel maker, and China is both the world's leading steel producer and steel consumer. Its products are primarily carbon, stainless, and specialty steel, which it makes formed as billets, tubes, pipes, bars, and plates; the company also makes iron and tin products. Its markets include the appliance, auto, construction, oil, and shipbuilding industries, both in China and abroad. Baosteel has the production capacity to make more than 30 million tons of steel annually. Its metallurgical activities operate through more than 20 subsidiary companies, including operations in construction, finance, international trade, and transportation. Baosteel is state-owned.
