Overview
Baines Management operates Stop Shop Save Food Markets, a chain of about a half a dozen inner-city supermarkets in Baltimore, as well as a security company and an advertising agency. The family-owned and -operated company is the largest independent chain of supermarkets owned by an African-American in the US. Founder Henry T. Baines Sr. opened his first grocery store, Super Thrift, in 1978.
