Overview
Autostrada Torino-Milano manages a number of roads that don't lead to Rome -- and one that does. A leading Italian tollway operator (behind Atlantia), Autostrada Torino-Milano (ASTM) was established in 1928 to construct and maintain the Turin-Milan motorway. ASTM also controls, through SIAS S.p.A. and its subsidiaries, a number of motorway concessions that service tertiary tollways in northwestern and central Italy. One of its roads connects Pescara, on Italy's Adriatic coast, with Rome. ASTM's main source of revenue is the collection of traffic tolls. Other sources are engineering, construction, and technology services. Argo Finanziaria, the holding company for the Gavio family, controls the company.
