Overview
Athleta Corporation is all about being comfortable while you work up a sweat. The company makes and sells women's athletic wear (tops, pants, sports bras, swimwear, hoodies and jackets, shoes) and related accessories (fitness gear bags, socks, hats) through its catalog and Web site. As the company has grown, Athleta has debuted more sportswear including dresses as well as extensive lines of accessories and lifestyle items, such as CamelBak hydration gear and sports watches. More than 90% of the direct marketer's staff is women. Athleta, which was founded in 1998, was acquired by Gap Inc. in 2008 for $150 million.
