Canadian Utilities earns third-quarter profit of $120.9M, up from year ago [Canadian Press DataFile]

CALGARY _ Canadian Utilities Ltd. said Friday it earned $120.9 million in its latest quarter, up sharply from a year ago. The company said the profit amounted to 96 per cents share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with a profit of $67 million or 53 cents per share a year ago. Revenue totalled $537.1 million, down from $638.4 million. Canadian Utilities is a subsidiary of Atco Ltd..

CALGARY _ Atco Ltd. reported Friday a third-quarter profit of $61 million, up from a year ago, as revenue fell. The Calgary-based conglomerate said the profit amounted to $1.05 per share, compared with a profit of $52.5 million or 91 cents per share for the same three months in 2008. Revenue in the quarter totalled $684.3 million, down from $763.4 million.
