ASSA ABLOY produces mechanical, electromagnetic, and electronic locks, mainly for buildings. It also offers locking systems for cars, parking meters, pay phones, and gaming machines, as well as for hotels, offices, hospitals, and schools. It offers security planning, maintenance, and consulting services for institutional locking systems. The group was formed in 1994 following the spinoff of Assa AB from Swedish security group Securitas. Assa then acquired lock company Abloy from Finnish engineering firm Wärtsilä (formerly Metra Oyj).
