Asia Standard Hotel Group is posed to take advantage of Hong Kong's growing reputation as a tourist destination. The company, a subsidiary of Asia Standard International Group, owns and runs three hotels -- Empire Hotel Hong Kong, Empire Hotel Kowloon (Hong Kong), and Empire Landmark in Vancouver -- along with a travel agency and two Friday's restaurants in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Just over half of Asia Standard Hotel's sales come from the travel agency business though it has plans underway for at least two hotels to open in 2007. Parent founder and CEO Jing Poon owns about 73% of the company.
