The division of Ashland makes a variety of specialty chemicals used primarily by the auto, packaging, metal castings, and construction markets. Among its offerings are adhesives, composite polymers, binders, and catalysts for casting systems. Ashland Performance Materials also makes polyester and vinyl ester resins and gelcoats for plastics makers. Sister company Ashland Distribution distributes chemicals from Ashland and from other chemical firms. When Ashland completed its sale of APAC to Oldcastle Materials, the parent company split up the former Ashland Specialty Chemicals into Performance Materials and Ashland Water Technologies.
