Arkema Company Description

While there's not quite two of everything in this ark, TOTAL sure did gather up a lot of stuff for the flood. The multinational oil and gas leviathan reorganized its chemicals business in 2004 and came up with Arkema after hoarding together many different commodity and specialty chemicals units. Among those businesses are Arkema's industrial chemicals (acrylics, fluorochemicals, thiochemicals, and hydrogen peroxide), performance chemicals (specialty chemicals, technical polymers, and organic peroxides), and vinyl products (chlorochemicals and PVC resins and products). Arkema operates six research centers in France, Japan, and the US. TOTAL spun off the company through a public offering in the spring of 2006.
