Running full steam ahead, craft brewer Anchor Brewing sells about 86,000 barrels a year of its seven brews. Led by its flagship brand Anchor Steam, the company's beers and ales also include Anchor Porter, Anchor Small Beer, Anchor Summer, Anchor Bock, Liberty Ale, Old Foghorn, and Christmas Ale -- a seasonal holiday offering that changes each year. Anchor Brewing sells its beer in the US, Canada, the Asia/Pacific, and Europe. The company also operates Anchor Distilling, which produces Junípero gin and Old Potrero rye whiskey. Started in the 1860s, the brewery was saved from bankruptcy in 1965 by current owner and brewmaster Fritz Maytag (an heir to the Maytag appliance fortune).
