Overview
Oil, water, and other liquids need a place to flow and that's where Ameron International comes in. The firm designs, makes, and markets fiberglass-composite pipes for transmitting oil, chemicals, corrosive liquids, and other specialty materials. Ameron also makes and sells concrete and fabricated steel products used for water transmission and wind towers. Additionally, its infrastructure unit supplies ready-mix concrete and aggregates, box culverts, and sand for construction projects in Hawaii. The firm's pole products division makes concrete and steel poles for lighting and traffic signals. Oilfield equipment maker National Oilwell Varco bought Ameron for some $777 million in 2011.
