Overview

U-Haul, u-work, u-strain, u-hurt ... u-sure you don't want to spend the extra money for movers? If not, there's AMERCO, whose principal subsidiary, U-Haul International, rents orange-and-white trucks, trailers, and towing devices and sells packing supplies to do-it-yourself movers through about 15,000 independent dealers and 1,400 company-owned centers in the US and Canada. U-Haul's websites offer equipment reservations and moving information. AMERCO also owns self-storage facilities managed by U-Haul, and it provides property and casualty insurance to U-Haul customers through Repwest. The firm's Oxford Life unit provides annuities, Medicare supplement, and life insurance coverage. AMERCO was founded in 1945.
