This fusion of beet growers makes for a sweet mix. A top US sugar producer, Amalgamated Sugar (also known as the Snake River Sugar Company) processes sugar beets. The cooperative makes granulated, coarse, powdered, and brown sugar products marketed under the brand name White Satin. It also provides private-label products for grocery chains. In addition Amalgamated Sugar produces beet pulp, molasses, and other beet by-products for use by food and animal-feed manufacturers. The company, which started out in 1994, became a grower-owned beet-sugar cooperative in 1997 and changed its name to Amalgamated Sugar Company.
