Overview
Amadeus indeed rocks as one of the world's largest travel reservation and ticketing systems. About 85,000 travel agencies and more than 29,000 airline sales offices use Amadeus' global distribution system (the world's largest), which books flights on nearly 500 airlines. It also makes reservations at some 73,000 hotel properties and almost 30 car rental agencies, as well as cruise, tour, and ferry operators. A group created by airlines Air France, Iberia, and Lufthansa, equity firms Cinven and BC Partners, and Amadeus management acquired Amadeus in 2005.
