If it were up to Alsea, there'd be a Starbucks on every corner in Mexico too. Alsea is Mexico's largest operator of fast-food restaurants, but it also has a presence in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. Most of the company's nearly 1,000 restaurants are in Mexico, where it runs about 570 Domino's Pizzas, 200 Starbucks Coffees, 100 Burger Kings, 25 Chili's Grill and Bars, and 10 Popeyes Chickens. Its restaurants use the same business concepts as their American counterparts, and Alsea has its own distribution company to maintain consistency. The company aims to have around 1,300 restaurants by 2011.
