Alps Electric makes a wide array of electronic components, including connectors, sensors, switches, magnetic heads, and potentiometers. In the US, however, Alps Electric may be best known for its Alpine Electronics subsidiary, which makes car audio equipment. The company also makes peripheral products (color LCDs, printers, remote controls); automotive electronics (keyless entry systems, steering switches); and communications components (optical modules, transceivers, tuners for satellite systems and televisions). Alps gets about two-thirds of its sales outside of Japan.
