Alitalia Company Description
Alitalia - Linee Aeree Italiane is navigating its way through a restructuring. Italy's leading airline, Alitalia serves more than 110 destinations worldwide from hubs in Rome and Milan with a fleet of some 175 aircraft, including those operated by regional unit Alitalia Express. Alitalia extends its network as a member of the SkyTeam code-sharing and marketing alliance, which also includes Air France, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and KLM. (Code-sharing enables airlines to sell tickets on one another's flights.) The Italian government, which owns 49.9% of Alitalia, is working to sell its stake. To facilitate a sale, Alitalia has filed for bankruptcy protection.
