Alico Company Description
Alico is bullish on cattle, but citrus generates more revenue. The company, which owns some 135,000 acres of farm land in Florida, also dabbles in sugarcane, vegetable, and sod production, as well as commercial land development. Alico's citrus is packed or processed with fruit from other growers through produce marketer Ben Hill Griffin. It has a breeding herd of approximately 10,000 cattle and sells stock primarily to meat packing and processing plants. Alico's sugarcane is sold through a pooling agreement with a nearby sugar mill; sod is marketed through a US wholesaler. In addition, the company leases some of its land land for grazing, farming, recreation, and oil and mineral exploration.
