Alfresa Company Description

Another example of merger and acquisition activity in the Japanese drug industry, pharmaceutical wholesaler Alfresa was created in 2003 from the combination of wholesalers Azwell and Fukujin. The Alfresa Corporation subsidiary oversees the wholesale side of the business (which is Alfresa's bread and butter), while Alfresa Pharma Corporation takes care of manufacturing, marketing, and importing and exporting. Both deal not only in pharmaceutical products, but diagnostic reagents and medical devices and equipment, as well. Additional businesses brought under the aegis of Alfresa Holdings include Ando Co., Daiwa Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, and Kowa Pharmaceuticals.
