Overview
Aker is showing the world its money maker. The Norwegian conglomerate invests in and helps to build new and developing industrial companies, usually to be held for an indefinite period of time. It owns stakes in energy resources, energy technology, maritime, seafood, and marine biotechnology companies. Aker is the majority shareholder in some 10 publicly traded firms, including engineering, construction, and energy group Aker Solutions (formerly Aker Kværner); other holdings include Aker Seafoods, Aker Material Handling, and Aker Solutions. Aker's portfolio companies are active in 35 nations.
