Air Berlin Company Description
Low-fare airline Air Berlin has its eye set high in the skies. The carrier, which ranks behind only Lufthansa among German airlines, transports passengers to about 20 cities in its home country, plus about 80 destinations elsewhere in Europe and in northern Africa. It operates a fleet of more than 120 aircraft, mainly Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s, from hubs at Berlin's Tegel airport, London's Stansted Airport, and in Majorca. Air Berlin's proposed acquisition of Condor, a German air carrier controlled by UK-based travel services giant Thomas Cook Group, was called off in 2008, but the companies left the door open for another transaction.
