The bank, known as ATEbank, provides retail and commercial financial services, and, pursuant to its original mission, credit and other services to the agricultural community. ATEbank has some 480 offices in Greece and Romania (and a representative office in Germany) and more than 850 ATMs. Subsidiaries offer credit cards, insurance, leasing, and investment products. The Greek government owns some 77% of the company's shares, but may eventually cut its stake to as little as 51% as part of the nation's privatization efforts.
