Overview

Agfa-Gevaert Ltd. (aka Agfa UK) is a subsidiary of the Belgian imaging technology group Agfa-Gevaert. Once known for its photographic films, today Agfa UK develops, manufactures, and sells imaging systems, workflow management software, and related digital products for the printing industry (Agfa Graphics) and health care sector (Agfa HealthCare). It also makes film-related products and specialty components for industrial applications (Agfa Materials). The company operates a manufacturing plant in Leeds, where it produces digital printing plates. Before the 1964 merger that formed Agfa-Gevaert, the old Gevaert firm had already operated in the UK since 1909. Agfa came to England in 1950.
