The company typically acquires majority stakes of between 50% and 70% in its affiliates -- firms that cater to institutional investors and wealthy individuals. Its structure lets affiliates retain partial ownership of their firms and operate with relative autonomy. AMG usually contracts to allocate a percentage of revenues to affiliates for operating expenses, such as compensation.
