AECI Company Description
AECI makes chemicals for a range of uses -- from blowing things up to making keeping pests away from your crops. The company, operating through its subsidiaries, manufactures and distributes explosives, specialty chemicals, and specialty fibers. Its subsidiaries include African Explosives (with business primarily in Africa but expanding worldwide), Chemical Services (or Chemserve, whose products ranging from detergents to mining chemicals to plastics to agricultural chemicals), and SANS Fibres (polyester and nylon fibers). It also operates South African property developer Heartland Properties. AECI had also made decorative coatings, sold under the Dulux name brand, but sold those operations in 2007.
